A successful defence for Marion, who officially becomes a Doctor!

19 June was a special day for our doctoral student Marion Rousseaux!

Having devoted 4 years to her research on “The instrumentalisation of minor children by their parents“, under the scientific supervision of her thesis supervisor, Blandine Mallevaey, Director of the Master 2 in Child and Family Law and Co-Director of the Graduate Diploma in Child Auditing, she had made a long-term commitment and was finally able to appreciate all her efforts.

Under the careful eye of an outstanding panel made up of Professors Clotilde Brunetti-Pons, Sophie Paricard, Francois-Xavier Roux-Demare, Caroline Siffrein-Blanc and Éric Delemar, Children’s Ombudsman with the Défenseure des droits, she was able to enthrall her audience with a subject at the heart of current affairs and highlighted the vulnerable situations faced by some children within their own families. An oral exercise which, although it crowns the end of an enormous personal investment, remains a solemn and important moment that must be fulfilled with honours.

Winner of the 2022 Catho Foundation Dissertation Prize, her work had already been greatly highlighted last year through her commitment and the relevance of her work. This was once again the case this time, under the approving look of Blandine Mallevaey and her family, friends and colleagues who had come to support her. Marion embodies the excellent direction taken by our Research Center by becoming a member of the Doctoral School of the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France, since she was able to defend her thesis within our Faculty of Law, as Agathe Voillemet did in April 2022.

This latest defence confirms the remarkable opportunity offered to the FLD to assert its status as a Doctoral School, thanks to the solid partnership it has built up over several years with the Ecole Polytechnique des Hauts-de-France. Together, they won the call for projects that gave rise to Prélude, a real evolution in the way bachelor’s and master’s programmes are built. Today, the Faculty of Law counts 7 PhD students, 4 of whom joined us last year and Marion, who has just completed her PhD. A very promising figure for the years to come!

After a very successful defence in Private Law and Criminal Sciences and a well-deserved doctorate, Marion would like to put the fruits of her learning to work for the very noble cause of child protection. We would like to congratulate her warmly and wish her a very succesful career, many projects and achievements, in which she will be able to put the fruit of her learning at the service of others.
