The Master’s degree in European & Franco-German Business Law is trilingual in French, German and English. During two years of training in France and then in Germany, students will be able to specialize in various subjects related to business law within the French, German and European legal systems.

Training location :

  • Master 1 / LL.M. 1 : Passau Universität, Germany.
  • Master 2 / LL.M. 2 : Issy-les-Moulineaux Campus, Faculty of Law (FLD), France.

In partnership with the University of Passau in Germany and in agreement with the University of Toulouse Capitole

Prerequisites

  • Holder of LL.B. / Bachelor in Law
  • B2 English and German levels (consulter la Common European Framework)
  • Application file + interview in English and German

Objectives

This Master’s programme covers all areas of business law in France, Germany and at the European level: commercial law, European antitrust law, company law, European competition law, security law, contract law, international and European merger and acquisition law, etc.

Theoretical training is complemented by practical experience in a company, which forms part of the assessment (work-study programme).

Preparation for legal work in large companies, public institutions and French-German and European law firms (internship in M1 and work-study programme in M2).

1st year Master

One year of legal training in each country:
> 1st year at the Faculty of Law in Passau, Germany
> 2nd year at the Faculty of Law at UCL (Issy-les-Moulineaux campus in France)
Language and legal culture improvement courses
Certificate of recognition of studies (‘Leistungsanerkennung’) by the Faculty of Law in Passau at the end of the 1st year of the Master’s programme
Prospect of obtaining an LL.M from the Faculty of Law in Passau at the end of the M2 (currently under accreditation)

Professionnalisation

Internationalisation of work-study programmes (work experience takes place in the country where the academic year is spent) supported by the School of Work-Study Law and the Career Centers of both law faculties.

Meetings with legal practitioners, with certain particularly technical courses also taught by practitioners
Meetings with legal professionals in the second year of the Master’s programme as part of the Job Fair organized by the IELS or visits to institutions

Jobs & Careers / Study opportunities

German students who have passed the first state examination (“Erste juristische Staatsprüfung”) in law may directly enter the second year of the Master’s programme at the Law Faculty campus in Issy-les-Moulineaux.

Further studies:

Access to the French Bar examination at the end of the Master’s programme
Careers: Corporate lawyer, solicitor, employee of Franco-German, European or international institutions.
