“Where Law meets Business” at the French Institute in Athens !

 

Ioannis Panoussis, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille, and Emmanuel Gardounis, Lecturer on the Issy-les-Moulineaux Campus, were present in Greece on Thursday 14 December for the launch conference of the new Master of Business Law & Graduate Diploma « International Legal Practice & Management » in partnership with NOMIKI BIBLIOTHIKI COLLEGE (NBC) in Athens.

The conference « Where Law meets Business », organised jointly by the two entities, was a real success. The event took place at the French Institute of Athens, the core of franco-greek cooperation, and brought together several leading legal experts and personalities from the business world.

This event was presented by Mr. Antonis Karatzas, Director of Legal Library, Mr Theodoros Fortsakis, Chairman of the College Board, Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Athens, former Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and Mr. Philippe Grieu, a french cultural attaché.

Among the speakers were M. Michel Montbertrand, President of the CCBE, Mme Venia Papathanassopoulou, Legal Counsel and Secretary to the Board of Directors of Athens International Airport SA, M. Panagiotis Perakis, lawyer, President of the CCBE, M. Panagiotis Stikouras, Profesor and Aristote Panteliadis, CEO of METRO.

The exchange gave everyone the opportunity to speak on the subject of law and to outline the field in which legal sciences meet the business world. The new role of the business lawyer was also discussed, as this is now a multi-dimensional position.

At the end of this discussion, Emmanuel Gardounis, focused on giving a more detailed presentation of this new franco-greek programme.

This 18-month programme, exclusively in English, allows students to obtain two state-recognized programmes : a Masters of Business Law and a Graduate Diploma in Law & Management. It combines a variety of topics such as business law, economics and management, to prepare learners for today’s world of work, both in Greece and internationally.
