When law takes to the stage

At the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille, learning also involves experimentation and an openness to other forms of expression. The ‘Theatre and Law’ course is a concrete example: it enables students to apply their legal knowledge in a different way, by putting it into context.

On 13 April at 7pm, the Espace ICARE in Issy-les-Moulineaux will host Cyber & Moi, an original play entirely conceived, written and performed by second-year students on the Licence Droit et Culture Juridique at our faculty’s Issy campus. This educational project offers a complementary approach to law, based on collective reflection and role-play.

The play focuses on a topical issue: cyberbullying. The students explored the concept of cybervictims, particularly through discussions with the comedian Typhaine D., who has experienced this situation first-hand. This approach gave them the opportunity to analyse the legal issues linked to these problems, whilst examining the legal tools available to solve them.

Supervised by Alicia Mâzouz, Professor of Law, Head of the Legal Clinic and Deputy Director of the C3RD for the Issy-les-Moulineaux campus, the students created a collaborative piece in which each text and each role forms part of an overall reflection. The aim: to make complex legal issues accessible through a structured and clear presentation.

This project also marks our first partnership with the city of Issy-les-Moulineaux, with the play being performed as part of an amateur theatre festival. It demonstrates our faculty’s commitment to offering a variety of teaching formats that address contemporary issues.

Admission is free, with a voluntary donation: audience members will be invited to support the Data for Good association, which is committed to promoting more responsible digital practices.

An original approach to exploring the law from a different angle, without ever straying too far from it.
