The CNIL at the Faculty of Law to discuss health data

On Wednesday 14 May 2025, the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille had the pleasure of hosting a study day dedicated to the challenges of health data, organised by its research centre (C3RD) in partnership with the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL).

Throughout the day, the Saint-Louis lecture theatre welcomed rich and in-depth exchanges between representatives of the CNIL, legal experts, researchers, healthcare professionals and actors from the digital sector. Together, they explored the many dimensions of health data governance, from privacy protection and cybersecurity to ethics, regulation and the development of artificial intelligence.

An essential interdisciplinary dialogue

Among the highlights of the day were key contributions from CNIL experts, who provided valuable insights into the application of the GDPR in the healthcare sector, growing cybersecurity requirements in the face of targeted attacks, and the forthcoming European Health Data Space (EHDS). The discussions highlighted the urgent need for ongoing dialogue between regulators, researchers, clinicians and industry stakeholders in order to build ethical and effective frameworks for data governance.

A Faculty fully committed to digital challenges

With this event, our Faculty of Law reaffirms its commitment to offering a space for reflection and debate on the major legal and societal transformations of our time. The success of the day is a clear indication of the significance of these issues, situated at the crossroads of law, healthcare and digital innovation.

We extend our sincere thanks to the CNIL and to all the speakers for the quality of their contributions, as well as to the participants who joined us.
