Second ESP session: an international summer

After four weeks of rich discoveries and sharing, the first session of the 25th edition of the European Summer Programme (ESP) came to an end on 19 June. The second session, taking place from 26 June to 24 July 2025, will once again be held at the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille, in the Robert Schuman building.

Students from around the world

This second session stands out due to its number of participants: 259 students (compared with 166 in the first session), from over 30 partner universities and representing more than 20 different nationalities, have come to Lille for this immersive experience. It reflects the programme’s growing popularity among young people from across the globe.

The programme offers over 20 courses, taught in English and French, covering a wide range of disciplines including law, international relations, communication, sustainable development, engineering and human sciences. These courses are delivered by professors from the Université Catholique de Lille and around fifteen guest lecturers from various countries. Each student can earn ECTS credits at the end of the session.

Activities for full immersion

Beyond academic enrichment, the ESP fosters lasting intercultural connections. Each session is a space for sharing, dialogue, and mutual discovery. Students take part in educational visits (to courts, European institutions, companies, museums, etc.), as well as convivial events such as international evenings and regional gastronomic tastings. Highlights of this new session include a visit to the famous Wazemmes market, a treasure hunt around Lille, trips to the Piscine Museum in Roubaix and the Louvre-Lens, and an excursion to Bruges, in Belgium.

This wide range of experiences offers not only knowledge, but also opportunities to build strong human connections, creating a vibrant student community united by curiosity and a desire to learn from one another.

An event true to our university’s values

As the Université Catholique de Lille celebrates its 150th anniversary and the European Summer Programme its 25th year, this new session reaffirms our institution’s longstanding commitment to international, inclusive, and forward-thinking education.

Session 2 officially begins on 26 June with an orientation brunch, campus tours and team-building activities. For another four weeks, students will enjoy a programme combining academic instruction, cultural exploration, and intercultural exchange, culminating in a closing ceremony on 23 July.

This second session promises to be one of the highlights of the summer at the Université Catholique de Lille !
