Speaker: Juge Petra Škvarilová-Pelzl, from the General Court of the Court of Justice of the EU

Judge P. Škvařilová-Pelzl completed her legal studies in the Czech Republic and in Germany, where she obtained her Magister juris at Charles University of Prague, and obtained her Doctorate in Law at the University of Hamburg (Germany). Judge Škvařilová-Pelzl was a research associate in the Commercial, Maritime, and Business Law Department at the University of Hamburg, successful in a competition of the European institutions for Czech lawyers in 2004, official in the Library, Research and Documentation Directorate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union from 2004 to 2019, during which she was aide to the Director General between 2010 and 2016. She became a legal secretary (référendaire) at the Court in the Chambers of Judge Berger between 2017 and 2018, whilst lecturing in EU law at Charles University of Prague as well as the Austrian Federal Academy of Public Administration in Vienna, and making regular appearances at the biennial German-Czech Law Festival. She is also a sitting member of the jury commissions for the state doctorate examinations in EU law at the Faculty of Law at Charles University of Prague, as well as member of the Societas Iuris Publici Europaeo e.V. (SIPE). Judge Škvařilová-Pelzl has been appointed Judge at the General Court of the European Union as of 26 September 2019.
