Europe Month at the FLD
The Faculty of Law celebrates Europe ! On 9 May 1950, Robert Schuman presented his proposal for the organisation of Europe: the Schuman Declaration. It is seen as the birth certificate of the European Union.
At the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille, as in many other universities in France and Europe, many events were organized throughout May. A common goal : raise awareness of European history, its institutions, its challenges, its cultural wealth, its linguistic diversity as well as the social and economic opportunities it offers its citizens.
A number of events and activities were organised at the FLD once again this year. This was a great opportunity to highlight the internationalisation of our two campuses, Lille and Issy-les-Moulineaux, which is one of our faculty’s core values. It is also a way of showing Europe’s place in the world and showcasing the successful international experiences of our students.
In addition, on 16 May, the International Relations Department of the Université Catholique de Lille invited its staff to a European breakfast, reflecting the culinary specialities, both sweet and savoury, of a number of member countries. An exhibition entitled ‘The European Union in the blink of an eye’ was organised throughout the week to provide an insight into how the EU works. A workshop on interculturality, an information stand on international work experience opportunities and a photo competition on the theme of ‘Europe: little-known landscapes and cultures’: the success of this 2024 event was a testament to the commitment of the teams involved!
