Environmental, Constitutional and International Dialogue

The « Environmental, Constitutional and International Dialogue » ( ACI Dialogue) is an annual and travelling international symposium that gathers together lawyers, researchers, attorneys, sociologists and other professionals from the field of social sciences and law around legal issues concerning the protection of the environment in a multidisciplinary perspective.

 « O Diálogo »

The first edition took place in 2012, initiated by researchers from the University of Fortaleza in Brazil.

Initially based on the desire to strengthen the international dynamics of the Faculty of Law in Fortaleza, the project quickly expanded to other Brazilian universities (UNEMA, Escola Superior Dom Helder Câmara, the Federal University of Tocantins and the Cândido Mendes University) and finally acquired the international dimension it has today.

The first french edition

After the Universities of Lisbon, Porto and Braga in Portugal, the Universities of Rovira i Vigili, Santiago de Comportella and Sevilla in Spain, and finally the Universities of San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador and Studi di Teramo in Italy, the Research Centre of the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille, C3RD, will host the 17th edition of the event on 20 January 2023 in France.

The theme of this edition: Ecological Transition and Human Rights

This year’s theme is once again a major societal interest. The expected contributions will be structured around an interdisciplinary dialogue leading to a debate on the “meta-legal” challenges that the law will have to address in the near future. Thus, the problems generated by climate litigation or climate migration, the right to energy, the adaptation of constitutions to climate issues, all key subjects for dealing with what we call the “risk society”, will be the subject of the contributions discussed during the 3 panels and 6 workshops that will make up this Lille edition.

Since 2012, the annals of the event have been published in two collections (papers presented and papers by speakers), printed by Editora Lumen Juris (with free access at www.dialogaci.com), which include lectures given and papers presented by Brazilian and foreign authors. After their national publication, they are also published as international e-books, by the Institute of Legal and Political Sciences of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
