A week dedicated to international engagement

From 23 to 27 March 2026, the Université Catholique de Lille is hosting a new edition of its International Week, centred on the theme “Universities as Global Actors for Peace: Responsibility, Engagement and Solidarity”. This flagship event brings together around thirty guests from across the globe (including the United Kingdom, Georgia, India, Lebanon, Albania, Jordan, Ghana, Kenya, Brazil, Cameroon and Bosnia and Herzegovina), reflecting the vitality of academic partnerships and the University’s strong commitment to intercultural dialogue.

Throughout the week, a rich programme of workshops, visits and discussions showcases the University’s key initiatives, particularly in the areas of sustainable development, student engagement and solidarity. The event fully embodies the mission of the Université Catholique de Lille to contribute, through higher education and research, to building a more just and inclusive world.

The Faculty of Law is fully committed to this dynamic of international openness

That same week, the Faculty of Law is delighted to welcome Professor Taras Leshkovych, a lecturer and researcher at the Ukrainian Catholic University, for a teaching mobility programme supported by Erasmus+.

A Doctor of Public Law and specialist in public international law, human rights, international humanitarian law and international criminal law, Taras Leshkovych will deliver a series of lectures throughout the week, focusing on current international legal developments, particularly in relation to the war in Ukraine.

His lectures are open to diverse audiences within the Faculty, from undergraduate to postgraduate students, as well as academic staff, and focus key themes:

  • International responsibility and the classification of the crime of aggression in the context of the conflict in Ukraine;
  • Legal proceedings brought by Ukraine against Russia before international courts;
  • The functioning of the Ukrainian legal system during the state of emergency linked to the war;
  • State responsibility in the armed conflict with Russia;
  • Relations between the European Union and Ukraine, particularly in the areas of trade, defence and accession.

A research seminar is also being held at the C3RD, providing a valuable forum for discussion.

Through this event, the Faculty of Law reaffirms its commitment to the internationalisation of both its teaching and research, fostering academic exchanges, staff mobility and the cross-fertilisation of legal perspectives on a global scale.
