Mental health: a strong commitment to supporting our students

Because academic success depends on more than the quality of teaching alone, the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille is committed to providing its students with a supportive, caring and reassuring environment. Across both campuses, in Lille and Issy-les-Moulineaux, a range of support measures has been put in place to better assist students facing personal difficulties, whether emotional, psychological or related to physical health.

This commitment is led by Alice Caravetta, Vice-Dean for Faculty Community Affairs, in close collaboration with the teams on both campuses.

Support measures designed with students in mind

To strengthen this commitment and enhance the quality of support available, several members of staff have completed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training provided by the Institut Catholique de Lille. This training enables them to recognise signs of distress more effectively, adopt an appropriate listening approach, initiate dialogue and guide students towards suitable support services.

Resources available throughout the academic year

A wide range of support services is available to students throughout the year, including:

  • Access to healthcare professionals through the University Health Centre (CPSU) and the ALL Santé platform;
  • The possibility of benefiting from tailored academic arrangements in cases of medical need or specific personal circumstances;
  • Access to external support services such as Nightline and Santé Psy Étudiant;
  • The French government’s Mon Soutien Psy scheme, which provides up to 12 reimbursed therapy sessions per year and can be combined with the Santé Psy Étudiant programme;
  • Support from student-led initiatives such as Menta’Law, an association dedicated to raising awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

A caring and supportive community

Through these initiatives, the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille reaffirms its commitment to fostering a caring, attentive and supportive community. Because well-being is everyone’s responsibility, each member of the community has a role to play in prevention, support and collective vigilance.
