Congratulations to our graduates – Robert Badinter class!

On Friday 7 March 2025, the Faculty of Law of the Université Catholique de Lille celebrated the graduation of the 2023-2024 class from the Lille campus, during a formal ceremony held at the Nouveau Siècle, in the presence of 1,200 attendees. This event, organised with care and precision, brought together families, teachers and administrative staff to honour the achievements of our students.

A solemn, inspiring and moving occasion

This year’s class bore the name of Robert Badinter, an emblematic figure in the field of law and a staunch defender of fundamental freedoms. His lifelong commitment to justice and to the abolition of the death penalty has inspired this new generation of legal professionals.

The ceremony opened with speeches from Mr Patrick Scauflaire, President-Rector of the Université Catholique de Lille, Hugues Kenfack, President of the Université Toulouse Capitole, Ioannis Panoussis, former Dean of the Faculty of Law, and Sarah Durelle-Marc, Dean of the Faculty of Law since the beginning of 2025. They all referred to the importance of ethical responsibility and commitment in legal profession, in line with the values embodied by Robert Badinter and by our university.

Recognising our students’ achievements

To rapturous applause from their families and friends, 424 graduates paraded on stage, dressed in their gowns and mortarboards. This symbolic moment was punctuated by the honouring of the class majors, distinguished for their academic excellence.

The academic staff of Lille’s 18 Master’s programmes, moved to see their students reach this symbolic milestone after five years of study, all shared this unique moment with them. The entire team of the Faculty of Law celebrated the culmination of their journey and their transition into the professional world.

Student engagement celebrated

The ceremony also provided an opportunity to highlight student commitment to campus associations. The 2023-2024 Student Life Awards celebrated several student associations: the most promising, the most committed and the most innovative. These awards showcased the spirit of initiative, solidarity and creativity that energises student life within our Faculty.

A warm and convivial finale

The event concluded with the traditional mortarbroad toss, a moment of collective joy and celebration, captured in countless photographs and videos.

A drinks reception then brought together graduates, their families and members of staff, allowing all to continue sharing memories and celebrating this success together.

We once again offer our warmest congratulations to the entire Robert Badinter graduating class and wish them every success in their future endeavours !
