On 7 May, students from the Master\u2019s programme in Health Law and Medical Liability<\/strong> at the Faculty of Law of the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong> proudly represented our faculty at the National 24-hour Health Law Competition<\/strong> (Concours National des 24h du Droit de la Sant\u00e9). This year\u2019s event was hosted by Universit\u00e9 de Picardie Jules Verne<\/span><\/span> in Amiens<\/strong> and has been organised for the past twenty years by the Health Law School of Universit\u00e9 de Montpellier<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, led by Professor Fran\u00e7ois Vialla<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

At the end of this demanding competition, our students were awarded the Best Written Submission Award<\/strong>, recognising the quality of their legal analysis, the rigour of their argumentation and their ability to respond to a complex health law case under intense time pressure.<\/p>\n

This renowned competition brings together 12 teams from 9 French and French-speaking international universities around one challenge: defending a complex health law case in just 24 hours. It is an immersive and demanding experience that introduces students to the realities of advocacy and litigation, while testing their analytical, drafting and public speaking skills.<\/p>\n

The format is both challenging and rewarding. Upon arrival, teams discover an entirely new case file and are randomly assigned the role of claimant or defendant in a mock trial<\/strong>. After working through the night on their written submissions, students exchange arguments with the opposing side before preparing their oral pleadings, which are presented before a jury the following day.<\/p>\n

Four awards recognise excellence in the competition:<\/strong> Best advocate, best oral pleading, best written submission and best team. By winning the award for Best written submission<\/strong>, our students have once again placed the Faculty of Law of the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong> among the leading institutions in this prestigious competition.<\/p>\n

For the past twenty years, Lina Williatte<\/span><\/span><\/strong> has supported the students of her master\u2019s programme throughout this academic and human adventure. Over the years, our faculty has distinguished itself on several occasions in this highly regarded competition, which it also hosted a few years ago.<\/p>\n

Beyond the competition itself, the 24-hour Health Law Competition<\/strong> is above all a unifying and enriching experience<\/strong>. It offers health law students the opportunity to exchange ideas, build lasting connections and develop a strong professional network<\/strong>. Lecturers and programme directors also take part in these discussions, helping to strengthen an engaged academic community<\/strong> dedicated to health law.<\/p>\n

This distinction highlights the commitment, talent and excellence of our students and perfectly reflects the dynamism of the Faculty of Law of the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
