Interdisciplinary Master\u2019s Degree in Critical Criminology<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n
Conference – \u00ab Radicalisms \u00bb<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n

On 18 March, students from the\u00a0Interdisciplinary Master\u2019s Degree in Critical Criminology of the Faculty of Law of the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong>\u00a0organised a conference entitled \u00ab\u00a0Les Radicalit\u00e9s\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>\u00a0(Radicalisms<\/em>), in collaboration with the\u00a0C3RD<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and under the supervision of\u00a0Laurent Chabert<\/strong>, the programme director. The event brought together researchers, practitioners and curious minds to discuss a key issue facing our contemporary societies.<\/p>\n

In a context of increasing polarisation of opinion, this conference explored the\u00a0multiple forms of radicalism<\/strong>\u00a0(political, religious, gender-based, dietary and environmental) as well as the\u00a0processes of radicalisation<\/strong>. Adopting a multidisciplinary approach, the aim was to gain a better understanding of the dynamics at play, their roots, and the links between radicalism, social transformation and the challenge to the established order.<\/p>\n

Divided into two main sessions, the conference addressed, on the one hand, ideological tensions and political mobilisation, and, on the other, changes in identity and society. By also examining how institutions understand these phenomena, the conference aspired to move beyond simplistic views and to create a space for nuanced reflection on the social, political and human issues linked to radicalism.<\/p>\n

Interdisciplinary Master\u2019s Degree in Critical Criminology<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The\u00a0Interdisciplinary Master\u2019s Degree in Critical Criminology<\/strong>, a dual degree programme run in partnership with the\u00a0Catholic University of Louvain<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>(in Belgium), enables students to immerse themselves in the multidisciplinary field of knowledge concerning crime, criminals and the socio-criminal justice response to crime. It paves the way for the development of professional skills in a wide range of careers related to justice, health, social work and education. It leads to professional recognition as a criminologist in various countries. A study period at the\u00a0School of Criminology of UCLouvain<\/strong>\u00a0(Louvain-la-Neuve campus) is compulsory in the third semester of the programme.<\/p>\n

Objectives:<\/p>\n
