{"id":34004,"date":"2025-11-12T16:24:52","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T15:24:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fld-lille.fr\/?p=34004"},"modified":"2025-11-13T16:26:15","modified_gmt":"2025-11-13T15:26:15","slug":"the-polhicult-student-association-welcomes-francois-hollande","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fld-lille.fr\/en\/the-polhicult-student-association-welcomes-francois-hollande\/","title":{"rendered":"The PolHiCult student association welcomes Fran\u00e7ois Hollande"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, 6 November 2025, the <strong>Faculty of Law of the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong> had the honour of welcoming <strong>Mr Fran\u00e7ois Hollande, former President of the French Republic<\/strong>, for a major lecture devoted to the <strong>evolving role of the President<\/strong> and the <strong>contemporary challenges facing French institutions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fld-lille.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/DSCF7559-1-300x200.jpg\" width=\"404\" height=\"269\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The event, which brought together nearly <strong>650 students<\/strong> and was opened by <strong>Mr Patrick Scauflaire<\/strong>, President-Rector of the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille, and <strong>Mrs Sarah Durelle-Marc<\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty of Law, was entirely organised by the <strong>Faculty&#8217;s student association PolHiCult<\/strong>. A true illustration of our students&#8217; commitment and professionalism, this event highlights the vitality of student life within the University and its contribution to each individual&#8217;s intellectual and civic development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fld-lille.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/DSCF7520-1-300x200.jpg\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fld-lille.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/DSCF7527-1-300x200.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>A conversation on institutions and contemporary crises<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>During the lecture,<strong> Fran\u00e7ois Hollande<\/strong> reflected on his experience as former President and offered an in-depth analysis of several major themes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The evolution of the role of the President of the Republic in a context of political and social transformation;<\/li>\n<li>The terrorist attacks of 13 November 2015, whose tenth anniversary will be commemorated tomorrow;<\/li>\n<li>The state of emergency and the SILT law, and how their extension challenged the principles of the rule of law;<\/li>\n<li>Diplomatic challenges, including France&#8217;s overseas operations in Mali;<\/li>\n<li>The institutional crisis, illustrated by budgetary tensions and the relationship between the executive and legislative branches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Through his analysis, Fran\u00e7ois Hollande offered students a concrete insight into the realities of political leadership, echoing the theoretical teaching provided within the Faculty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fld-lille.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/DSCF7522-300x200.jpg\" width=\"413\" height=\"275\" \/><\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Student engagement at the heart of university life<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The organisation of this conference by <strong>PolHiCult<\/strong> demonstrates the ability of our student associations to design and deliver <strong>ambitious projects<\/strong> <strong>with rigour and a strong sense of collective purpose<\/strong>.
