The Faculty of Law of the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong> was honoured during the end-of-year academic ceremony<\/strong> held on Tuesday 24 June 2025, with the Research Commission’s thesis prize-giving<\/strong>. Two of its PhD students were among the three prize-winners<\/strong>, awarded for both the scientific excellence<\/strong> and the societal impact of their research<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Research anchored in contemporary challenges<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Presented by Patrick Scauflaire<\/strong>, President-Rector of the University, and Nicolas Vaillant<\/strong>, Vice-Rector for Research, the thesis prizes celebrated work that combined academic rigour<\/strong> with a significant contribution<\/strong> to the University’s missions. Supported by the Fondation de la Catho<\/strong>, these awards reflect the interdisciplinary vitality of research<\/strong> conducted within the University’s institutions.<\/p>\n

Anastasia Conroux<\/strong><\/span>, a PhD student<\/strong> in private law and criminal sciences and a member of the Childhood and Family Chair<\/strong>, received second prize<\/strong> for her thesis entitled Legal approaches to controlling relationships within the family<\/strong><\/em>, a sensitive and complex subject analysed through the lens of personal rights and the protection of the most vulnerable.<\/p>\n

Florian Watier<\/strong><\/span>, also a PhD student<\/strong> in private law and criminal sciences and affiliated with the same Chair<\/strong>, was awarded third prize<\/strong> for his thesis exploring Child\/Parent relationships in the context of detention<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

First prize<\/strong> went to Florian Martini<\/span> (Junia)<\/strong> for his research in phytopathology<\/strong>, focusing on the development of a natural biofungicide.<\/p>\n

All three performed brilliantly during the ‘My thesis in 180 seconds<\/strong>‘ oral presentation, praised for their clarity and depth.<\/p>\n

A ceremony to conclude an anniversary year<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The event provided an opportunity to look back at the highlights of an academic year marked by the 150th anniversary of the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong>. A retrospective film<\/strong> retraced the milestones of this exceptional year: student initiatives in France and abroad, unifying events, the opening of new living and working spaces and meaningful pedagogical projects<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The inauguration of Le Vaisseau<\/strong>, the Faculty of Law’s new building in Issy-les-Moulineaux<\/strong>, opened last October, was also spotlighted as an illustration of our academic and territorial development<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Tributes and transmission<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The ceremony also paid tribute to Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Lebrun<\/strong>, a leading figure in the University’s history who is now retiring<\/strong>. She is a Former President-Rector and President-Rector Delegate for Health and Social Affairs. A retrospective of her career<\/strong>, punctuated by a warm speech from her daughter Audrey, paid tribute to her deep commitment<\/strong>, her foresight<\/strong> and her humanity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A tribute was also paid to P\u00e8re Thierry Magnin<\/strong>, stepping down as President-Rector for the Humanities<\/strong>. He received the University’s gold medal<\/strong> before passing the baton to Fr\u00e8re Franck Dubois<\/strong>, who was introduced by Monseigneur Laurent Le Boulc’h<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Towards new horizons<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

This moment of gathering, both institutional and festive, enabled the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong> to close a landmark year while reaffirming its commitments to the future<\/strong>. The university community now looks forward to upcoming highlights, particularly the ECOPOSS Festival in autumn 2025<\/strong>, dedicated to desirable futures and societal innovation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
