From Thursday 22 May to Friday 20 June 2025<\/strong>, the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong>, in the Robert Schuman building of the Faculty of Law<\/strong>, is hosting the first session<\/strong> of the 25th European Summer Programme (ESP)<\/strong>, an intensive academic programme designed for students from partner universities around the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A multidisciplinary and international programme<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Launched in 2001<\/strong>, the European Summer Programme<\/strong> offers several hundred international students each year the opportunity to follow a four-week multidisciplinary course in English or French.<\/strong> The programme spans a wide range of fields<\/strong>, including law<\/strong>, humanities and social sciences<\/strong>, art<\/strong>, business<\/strong>, engineering<\/strong>, health<\/strong>, communications<\/strong> and sustainable development<\/strong>. Courses are delivered by lecturers from the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong> alongside around fifteen visiting professors from abroad<\/strong>. Each participant is eligible to earn ECTS credits<\/strong> at the end of the session.<\/p>\n

An active, outward-looking approach<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The ESP<\/strong> is founded on a comprehensive pedagogical approach<\/strong> that combines academic instruction<\/strong> and cultural exploration<\/strong>. Students take part in outings linked to their courses<\/strong> (courts, companies, museums, European institutions, etc.) and also discover local and regional heritage<\/strong> through guided tours<\/strong>, excursions<\/strong> and festive events<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This year, 166 students from 25 universities and 15 nationalities<\/strong> are taking part in this first session<\/strong>. A second session<\/strong>, scheduled for July<\/strong>, will bring together almost 260 additional students<\/strong>. The programme opened today, 22 May, with a welcome day<\/strong> featuring campus tours<\/strong>, an orientation session<\/strong>, a welcome brunch<\/strong> and a language placement test<\/strong>. It will conclude on 20 June, preceded by a closing ceremony<\/strong> gathering students, teachers and academic teams.<\/p>\n

Among the highlights of the two sessions are a visit to the famous Wazemmes market<\/strong>, a treasure hunt tour of Lille<\/strong>, trips to the Mus\u00e9e de la Piscine<\/strong> in Roubaix and the Louvre-Lens<\/strong>, meals in restaurants<\/strong> to discover local French cuisine, visits to Bruges<\/strong> and Brussels<\/strong>, First World War battlefields<\/strong>, and international evenings, <\/strong>key moments for sharing and celebrating the many cultures represented.<\/p>\n

An anniversary edition with multiple resonances<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

In this year marked by the 150th anniversary of the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille<\/strong>, the ESP<\/strong> is also celebrating its own journey, with a 25th edition<\/strong> placed under the banner of conviviality<\/strong>, diversity<\/strong> and a shared commitment<\/strong> to education with a global outlook<\/strong>.
