{"id":30897,"date":"2025-03-24T11:31:26","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T10:31:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fld-lille.fr\/?p=30897"},"modified":"2025-03-24T11:31:26","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T10:31:26","slug":"our-students-abroad-heading-for-athens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fld-lille.fr\/en\/our-students-abroad-heading-for-athens\/","title":{"rendered":"Our students abroad: heading for Athens!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students in the <strong>Human Rights, Security and Development Master&#8217;s programme<\/strong> at the <strong>Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille&#8217;s Faculty of Law<\/strong>, led by <strong>Ioannis Panoussis<\/strong> and <strong>Valentina Volpe<\/strong>, are taking part in an <strong>international conference<\/strong> at the <strong>National and Kapodistrian University in Athens<\/strong> on <strong>3 and 4 April 2025<\/strong>. The event, called &#8216;<em><strong>Vulnerabilities and Borders: Right to Asylum in Times of Crises<\/strong><\/em>&#8216; and coorganised by <strong>C3RD<\/strong>, will bring together <strong>European researchers<\/strong> and <strong>professionnals<\/strong> to discuss issues relating to the<strong> right to asylum and violations of fundamental rights<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Our students,<strong> Imana Chouli, Eloise Crouzet, Mathilde Huret, Carlotta Llobregat, Lucy Moore <\/strong>and<strong> Lallie Pogeant<\/strong>, will be presenting their work on the <strong>detention of minors in migration situations<\/strong>, the result of <strong>several months of research<\/strong> as part of the <strong>Legal Clinic &#8211; Greece project<\/strong>, which aims to extend the <strong>impact of teaching<\/strong> to the <strong>UE&#8217;s external borders<\/strong>, under the supervision of <strong>Silvia Bartolini<\/strong>, Associate Professor of EU Law, Head of the European LL.B. in Law, Associate Researcher at C3RD and Guest Lecturer at University of Athens.<\/p>\n<p>After this conference, our students will complete an <strong>internship<\/strong> at the<strong> European Lawyers in Lesvos (ELIL)<\/strong> organisation, which provides <strong>pro bono legal assistance<\/strong> to<strong> asylum seekers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This<strong> rich<\/strong> and<strong> formative experience<\/strong>, which illustrates the <strong>commitment <\/strong>of our <strong>students<\/strong> on the<strong> academic<\/strong> and<strong> international scenes<\/strong>, is also an example of our faculty&#8217;s desire to <strong>train lawyers<\/strong> and <strong>professionals<\/strong> who are sensitive to <strong>European<\/strong>, <strong>international<\/strong> and <strong>humanitarian issues<\/strong>, while providing them with<strong> concrete tools<\/strong> to act within a global framework.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.c3rd.fr\/evenement\/vulnerabilities-and-borders-right-to-asylum-in-times-of-crises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More information and registration<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students in the Human Rights, Security and Development Master&#8217;s programme at the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Lille&#8217;s Faculty of Law, led by Ioannis Panoussis and Valentina Volpe, are taking part in an international conference at the National and Kapodistrian University in Athens on 3 and 4 April 2025.
